Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

The short version

AskUncleX helps you dispute fines, bills and similar charges. To do that we need your account details, the document you want to dispute, and what you tell us about your situation. Those documents usually contain personal information — your name, address, account or licence numbers — and sometimes details about other people.

Your document and your conversation are read by our artificial intelligence (AI) provider, Anthropic, in the United States. Payments go through Stripe and emails through Resend, both in the United States. Our servers and database are in Sydney. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and your documents are not used to train AI models.

We don't delete anything automatically yet, and you can't yet delete a case or your account from inside the app. Email us and we will do it for you. The detail is below.

Who we are

AskUncleX is operated by [operator name to be confirmed] (ABN [ABN to be confirmed]). In this policy, "AskUncleX", "we", "us" and "our" mean that operator. For any question about your privacy or this policy, email [contact email to be confirmed].

AskUncleX is an AI tool, not a law firm, and we are not your lawyers. What you tell us is not protected by legal professional privilege. Our Terms of Service explain this in full.

What we collect

  • Account details: your first and last name, your email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in a readable form.
  • Profile photo: if you choose to add one.
  • Documents you upload: the document you want to dispute and any supporting evidence, such as screenshots, messages, photos or bills. We keep the files, their names, any descriptions, and the details our AI reads from your main document: what kind of document it is, who issued it, its date and the amount.
  • Your conversation: everything you type in a case, and the AI's replies.
  • Case analysis and letters: case summaries, the legal research results, and your dispute letter, which includes your name and email address.
  • Payment records: the amount, status and date of each payment and Stripe's reference numbers for it. You enter your card details on Stripe's own checkout page; we never see or store them.
  • Email preferences: whether you have switched on email updates and marketing communications.
  • Server logs: our servers record each request, including your IP address and the page requested. We filter passwords, email addresses and the text you type out of those logs, but they can still show the names of files you upload or download.
  • Cookies: we use cookies only to keep you signed in, to remember you if you choose to stay signed in, and to protect forms from forgery. If you agree to analytics, Google Analytics also sets cookies, as described below.

How we use it

  • To read your document, build your case, research similar cases and write your dispute letter.
  • To take payment for letters.
  • To send emails about your account, such as password resets. We don't send marketing emails today. If we start, we will only send them if you have switched on marketing communications in Settings, and every one will have a way to unsubscribe.
  • To keep AskUncleX secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell or rent your personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use your documents or conversations to train AI models.

How we use AI

AskUncleX is powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. To work on your case we send Anthropic:

  • the first document you upload to start a case, in full;
  • the whole conversation in that case;
  • the details read from that document, the names of the files you upload, and any descriptions of your evidence (not the evidence files themselves); and
  • when writing your letter, your name and email address.

To find relevant cases, the AI writes web searches from a description of your dispute, such as the company, the amount and your reasons, and Anthropic runs them through a web search provider. We don't add your name or email address, but a search can include other details from your case, such as an account number or a name that appears in your document.

Anthropic's commercial terms do not allow it to train its models on what we send. It keeps that content for a limited period under those terms. AI can make mistakes; our Terms of Service explain what that means for you.

Analytics, and your choice

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use AskUncleX — which pages they visit, where they came from, and whether they go on to start a case — so we know what to improve. We ask before it is switched on. Until you agree, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. If you say no, AskUncleX works exactly the same.

You can change your mind at any time, in Settings or on this page. We also record when you start a case, and whether that was straight after signing up. When analytics is on, Google receives the pages you open (by page name, never the address of an AskUncleX page), how you arrived, general engagement such as scrolling, a random identifier for your browser, a random identifier for your account that is not your name or email address, and your IP address, from which Google works out an approximate location, roughly your city.

Analytics is currently off for this device.

Analytics never includes your documents, anything you type, your case details, your letters or your payment details.

Google Signals — the setting that would let Google link your activity here with other websites and apps — is switched off, and so are Google's advertising features.

Who receives your information, and where

We use a small number of service providers to run AskUncleX.

Provider Location What they receive
Anthropic United States Your main document, your conversation, your case details, and your name and email address when writing your letter. Described above.
Stripe United States Your name and email address, the amount, a description of the letter you're buying that includes your case title (usually the company and document type, or the name of the file you uploaded), and the card details you enter at checkout.
Resend United States, sending from Japan Your email address and the content of emails we send you.
Tigris Global storage network, not pinned to Australia The files you upload and your profile photo, held in private storage.
Fly.io Sydney, Australia Hosts our servers, database and logs.
Cloudflare United States Your IP address and signals from your browser, to check you are not a bot when you sign up, whenever that protection is switched on.
Google Fonts United States Your IP address and browser details, when your browser downloads the typeface our pages use.
Google Analytics United States Only if you agree: the pages you open, how you arrived, general engagement, random identifiers for your browser and account, and your IP address, from which Google derives an approximate location. Never your documents, messages, case details, letters or payments.

Overseas disclosure

Anthropic, Stripe, Resend, Cloudflare and Google are in the United States, Resend sends email from Japan, and Tigris may store your files outside Australia. When you use AskUncleX, your information is disclosed to these recipients as described in the table. We use each provider under its standard business terms.

Other people's information

Your documents may include details about other people, such as names in a message thread or a number plate in a photo. Please upload only what your dispute needs, and where you can, cover up details of people who are not part of it.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

  • While your account exists, we keep your account details, cases, uploaded files, conversations and letters. Nothing is deleted automatically yet.
  • Deleting your account. You can't yet do this inside the app. Email [contact email to be confirmed] from the address on your account and we will permanently delete your account, cases, uploaded files, conversations, letters and payment records from our systems within 30 days. Copies in our database backups are removed as those backups expire.
  • Payments. Stripe keeps the customer record we created for you (your name and email address) and its own record of each payment, as financial and tax laws require, under Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Providers. Anthropic keeps what we send it for a limited period under its terms, and our server logs are held by Fly.io under its retention settings.

Security

Everything between your browser and AskUncleX travels over HTTPS. Your password is stored only as a secure hash. Uploaded files are held in private storage and are not publicly listed; they are served through signed links that cannot be guessed, although anyone who has a link can open that file. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach of your information is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you as soon as we can.

Access, correction and complaints

You can update your name, email address, profile photo and email preferences in Settings. To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or make a privacy complaint, email [contact email to be confirmed]. We don't have an export tool yet, so we compile copies by hand, and we aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Age

AskUncleX is for people aged 18 and over.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when AskUncleX changes, and the date at the top will show when. If a change significantly affects how we handle your information, we will email you before it takes effect.
